Baby rash on trunk can occur due to various kinds of causes. The common rash found on trunk as well as any other part of body is usually benign. Seborrheic dermatitis exact cause is poorly identified. But, the Malassezia species of yeast germs may cause the condition to appear and it is not contagious although it is not a simple skin infection. The yeast germs likely live in sebum. For the mild cases of baby rash on trunk due to seborrheic dermatitis, the affected skin may develop flaky mild patches and it may be itchy but no rash found. When seborrheic dermatitis gets worse, the rash occurs. The rash is often identified as red patches in oval or round shape, scaly, greasy skin. The patches of skin is usually has various size and each patch is only few centimeters in length. In every patch there is a formation of yellow-brown crusts spotted on the top of it. The rash caused by sebborheic dermatitis can cause itchy sensation and feel slightly raised. If the rash found on the scalp, the scalp may become itchy and or sore. If the rash found on ear or eyelid, the rash may cause inflammation of the outer ear canal or eyelid.
